In 2009, the KNCV introduced the Golden Master Award. The award is granted for the best Master’s thesis in chemistry in the Netherlands. In addition to the award, the winner receives a certificate and a €1,000 prize. Two second prizes are also awarded, consisting of a certificate and €250 each.
The finalists for the Golden Master Award 2025 have been announced!
After extensive deliberation, the jury has chosen three finalists from all entries. We will announce the winner at the Evening of Chemistry on 15 October in Nijmegen. The three finalists, in alphabetical order, are:

'Mechano-Catalytic Conversion of Polyolefins' - Maartje van der Meer, TU Delft
'Towards quantification of defect passivation by additives in mixed Sn-Pb perovskites' - Tarik Zahzah, Leiden University
'Probing Cation Migration in Mesoporous IrO2 Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy'
The winner of the Golden Master Award 2024 is Marko Beslać (TU Eindhoven).
Marko did a research entitled: 'Triazatruxene-based supramolecular polymers'
The second prizes were for:
- Frank de Kleijne, Radboud University Nijmegen
'New methods for detection and characterization of glycosyl cations' - Loes Kleinsmit, University of Twente
'Design, fabrication, and validation of microreactors to study olivine carbonation in-operando with high-throughput'
